Initiative 001
The Gurmukhi
Project.
Modernizing the digital experience of the Gurmukhi script through precision engineering and thoughtful design. We are building the digital infrastructure required to carry the script into the next generation.
The Objective
Beyond characters on a screen. We are building the foundation.
Language is more than just text; it is how we track time, record history, and interact with the world. For Gurmukhi to thrive in a digital-first future, it needs more than just fonts—it needs infrastructure.
From solving deep algorithmic challenges to high-precision typographic rendering, we are developing the core frameworks that allow Gurmukhi-based applications to perform at a world-class level.
The Engineering Gap
Modern technology wasn't
built for us.
Most global software is designed with Latin-script logic as the primary architecture. This creates "friction" for Gurmukhi users—ranging from substandard character rendering to temporal and data-logic structures that fail to respect cultural chronology.
The Gurmukhi Project exists to rewrite that logic. We are building the underlying systems so that Punjabi speakers can interact with technology as first-class digital citizens.
"Standard systems treat non-Latin scripts as a secondary layer, resulting in compromised legibility and fragmented logic."
"We build custom engines that prioritize native mathematical and aesthetic rules, ensuring absolute precision from the core logic to the final pixel."
Our Focus Areas
Engineering the Future of Gurmukhi.
We have identified three critical pillars where digital infrastructure is currently lacking. Our work is dedicated to filling these gaps with world-class engineering.
Input Systems
Redefining how Gurmukhi is authored on digital devices through ergonomic layouts and intelligent predictive frameworks.
Lexical Intelligence
Building comprehensive datasets and linguistic engines to power advanced spell-check, sentence structure, and semantic accuracy.
Cultural Utility
Developing high-precision tools—from temporal systems to daily utilities—that bring Gurmukhi into the modern workflow.
Our Applications
The Project in Action.
The Gurmukhi Project isn’t just about research—it’s about creating real tools for everyday life. We take our technical work and turn it into simple, beautiful apps that help you stay connected to your culture.
Samaa: Time Refined.
Samaa (ਸਮਾਂ) is the first app released as part of The Gurmukhi Project. It is a high-precision world clock that natively supports the Nanakshahi Calendar—offering a seamless way to track global time while staying connected to your traditional dates and history.
